The book details their two year exploration (1804-06)into the unknown including the encounters with Native Americans, wild animals, the harsh winters and rugged geography. Read about how a young Native American woman, Sacagawea, acted as a guide, finding a path through the mighty Rocky Mountains.
It a well-written, compelling adventure written by a well respected historian, Steven Ambrose, and it gives the reader a real picture and feel of what it was like in the early years of the United States.
