As the new school year begins, Shenzhen American International School (SAIS) has introduced exciting updates across student leadership, curriculum innovation, faculty development, and after-school engagement. Each initiative reflects SAIS’s commitment to holistic education and empowering every learner to thrive in a diverse and inclusive school culture.
Student Council Expands: Empowering Every Student as a Leader
This year, the SAIS Student Council and House System have grown significantly. Building on last year’s 9-member structure, the new Council includes 12 student leaders, featuring a High School President and Vice Presidents, Elementary and Middle School Ambassadors, and House Captains representing all four Houses.

To enhance cross-divisional communication, two new ambassador roles have been introduced
The Ambassadors serve as liaisons between the House Captains and the executive leadership, ensuring student voices are effectively represented in decision-making.

ParkLab: Learning Beyond the Classroom
SAIS proudly launches ParkLab, a unique interdisciplinary curriculum created by Principal Joseph Cirelli for elementary students. The program begins at Sihai Park, where students explore both natural and man-made environments and reflect on ways to improve their communities.
Combining STEM, social studies, and innovation, ParkLab fosters curiosity, creativity, and civic responsibility among young learners.

Emergency Response Training: Building a Safe and Caring School
To strengthen emergency preparedness, SAIS teachers recently took part in medical training focused on recognizing and assisting with situations such as fainting and seizures.
This training is part of SAIS’s professional development series and reflects the school’s core values of safety, care, and inclusion.

After-School Activities Return: Learning Continues After Class
This semester, SAIS’s After-School Activities (ASA) program is back in full swing, offering students a rich mix of sports, arts, academic support, and hobby-based clubs.
