World Mental Health Day
October 10th marked the arrival of the 32nd World Mental Health Day. This year's global theme centered on “Mental Health for All.” Our school organized a campus exhibition focused on mental health under the core theme“Hear the Heart, Eliminate Misunderstanding.”Through practical knowledge, interactive sessions, and original student artwork, the exhibition helped every student understand their emotions, break down misconceptions, learn to care for themselves, and seek support.
“Heart” Guidance from Awareness to Action
The exhibition centers on the theme of“Hearing Voices, Eliminating Misunderstandings”and features multiple practical divs:

The Origins and Global Impact
of World Mental Health Day

This div traces the journey from the World Federation for Mental Health's 1992 initiative to the World Health Organization's (WHO) incorporation of mental health into its global strategy. It also shares case studies of campus mental health services from various countries, helping students understand that“addressing mental health is a shared global responsibility.”
Mental Health: Not merely “free from worries,”
but also “capable of caring.”
Modules focusing on practical self-care techniques—such as the “4-2-6 Breathing Awareness Method” (inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 2 seconds, exhale for 6 seconds) and the “Three Questions for Emotional Journaling” (“What emotion am I feeling right now?” “What is it reminding me of?” “Is there a small action I can take to soothe myself?”)—alongside energy-building exercises and proactive networking to build support systems, transform self-care into actionable daily practices.

Don't Fall for Mindset Traps
Flip the Question to Find the Truth
The infographic lists 12 common mental health misconceptions, each paired with a “Truth Card”: For instance, “Is counseling only for people with mental illnesses?” The corresponding truth is “Global data shows that 70% of those seeking counseling simply aim to regulate their emotions—just as physical fatigue requires rest.” “Is admitting you need help a sign of weakness?” The truth is: “Psychology's ‘resilience theory’ shows that those who actively seek help recover faster—it's a courageous choice.” Data and theory shatter misconceptions.

Mental Health Services for All
Your Guide to Support for Your 'Heart'
The core of this initiative rests on three fundamental principles: “Aware Mind” (Don't wait until symptoms worsen to take action), “Healing Mind” (Actively seeking psychological support is a vital coping mechanism), and “Fearless Mind” (Seeking help isn't burdening others—it's taking responsibility for yourself). It also outlines clear avenues for assistance: On campus, students can schedule appointments with school counselors; Off campus, they can call the Youth Crisis Hotline.
“Promise to the Heart” Message Board
Students wrote down self-care commitments to themselves: “Practice breathing exercises once a day to relieve homework stress,” “Talk to the counselor first when feeling wronged,” “Watch a movie with family every week and listen attentively.” They captured these gentle promises to themselves in writing.
Additionally, the exhibition featured students' original mental health artworks, creating a unique visual highlight on-site. Whether it's the exquisite posters popularizing knowledge about World Mental Health Day, the engaging collages explaining common mental illnesses, or the therapeutic comics conveying the concept of “discovering inner resources to safeguard mental health,” each piece precisely targets mental health topics of public interest while addressing emotional challenges students may encounter daily. Through relatable expressions, these works make mental health education and emotional regulation techniques accessible, learnable, and actionable.

At the exhibition site, a tri-fold brochure titled “Seeking Help Is Not a Sign of Weakness” was distributed. It provided scientific guidance on mental health awareness, introduced the global landscape of mental health services, and outlined specific methods for seeking professional assistance. The brochure also included a comprehensive list of on-campus and off-campus support resources, enabling students to easily access and utilize these services as needed.
Many students immediately wrote action plans in the“Promise to the Heart”div after receiving the pamphlet: “Try keeping an emotion journal this Wednesday,” “Use breathing techniques tomorrow to ease exam anxiety.” This transformed the care guide into a practical action list.

During the exhibition, impromptu discussion sessions were held, inviting students to share their impressions.
One student remarked, “After flipping through the 12 psychological misconceptions, I suddenly stopped worrying about ‘being talked about for seeing a counselor.’ It turns out seeking help is already a perfectly normal thing to do.” Another shared a new perspective on self-care: " I used to think excellence meant ‘doing everything perfectly,’ but now I realize setting aside time each day for myself, giving myself credit, and doing things I enjoy is equally important.“ These simple exchanges revealed students' fresh perspectives on mental health, transforming the exhibition's theme of ”Hearing Voices" into tangible mutual listening.

World Mental Health Day lasts only one day, but our commitment to“Hear the Voice, Eliminate Misunderstanding”endures. May every student learn to: recognize their own emotions and care for themselves through small acts; seek help without hesitation when facing confusion, knowing that “mental health services are accessible to all”—every voice deserves to be heard, and every need has support nearby.
