The growth path of every LEH Foshan student is one-of-a-kind, and it fills us with pride to celebrate their successes. Today, we are thrilled to highlight the journey of Angela, who has become a role model for her peers. Through her firm perseverance, Angela achieved 9 A* grades (9-9) in the recent IGCSE examinations. We invite you to read her story and find inspiration in her accomplishments.
Now in Year 12, Angela has thrived as a boarder since joining LEH Foshan in 2023, an experience she finds deeply rewarding. Her life beyond the classroom is fueled by a passion for music; not only is she an avid rock fan and accomplished pianist and flautist, but she has also begun composing and producing her own original work. To balance her creative pursuits, she follows the excitement of Formula 1 and enjoys the physical activity of badminton and yoga.
In the recently concluded IGCSE exams, Angela achieved 9 A* grades (9-9). For her, this result is not just a symbol of grades, but a testament to her efforts and growth over the past two years. Currently, Angela is studying A-Level Maths, Geography, and Music. While this combination may seem unconventional, it is a deliberate choice by Angela to balance analytical thinking and creativity: the rigor of Maths, the cultural contextual understanding from Geography, and the creative and theoretical foundation of Music together lay a solid groundwork for her future pursuit of a major in Music Production. This allows her to become not just a musician, but also a thinker and analyst who understands and interprets the world through music.
Angela’s experience studying at the Sixth Form Centre has exposed her to a unique academic atmosphere: it is more mature, focused, and collaborative. Classes are no longer passive knowledge indoctrination but centered on guided discussions, which have greatly deepened her in-depth understanding of knowledge. When it comes to her study secret, Angela has a unique note-taking method: she integrates information from online courses and textbooks for different topics in each subject, reorganizes it into exclusive notes in her own words, and uses color coding after printing.
At the beginning of this year, Angela clarified her future direction: to pursue a major in Music Production. Now, she is fully immersed in learning the Logic Pro software, focusing on the creation and production of original songs, her musical journey has come full circle. Various music-related ECAs (Production Band, Choir, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and Composition ECA) have been key to helping Angela balance academics and music: these activities are not just extensions of her interests, but also taught her to manage time efficiently and gave her a strong sense of belonging and accomplishment, injecting full motivation into her life and studies.
Make the Phoenix Team Shine
As the Captain of Phoenix House, Angela’s core responsibility is to foster the house spirit, creating a sense of pride, belonging, and friendly competition among members. Specifically, she needs to plan and host house assemblies, organize various house events throughout the year, and motivate students to participate actively. Angela’s main goal for Phoenix House this year is to build a more collaborative and interactive house community, continuously enhancing team cohesion through practice.
Growing Through Independence
Boarding life has completely transformed Angela. She has not only developed independence but also honed her resilience. Without reminders from her parents, she needs to independently balance academic deadlines, music practice, and social activities. In this process, she quickly learned to prioritize tasks, develop a regular schedule that suits her, and take the initiative to take responsibility. In her opinion, this self-management ability is the best preparation for future university life and beyond. For new students about to join the boarding program, Angela’s advice is: "Embrace the experience with an open mind and participate actively."
University and Career Support
Talking about the future, Angela is full of expectations: she plans to pursue a major in Music Production at university, a field that perfectly aligns with her academic strengths and her deep creative passion. Summing up her time at LEH Foshan, Angela says: "This experience has been a transformative journey of academic rigor, creative exploration, and personal growth. It has equipped me with confidence, skills, and precious friendships, which will support me in continuing to pursue my passion for music at university and beyond."
