教育是照亮未来的光,而教师是掌灯的人。在教师节到来之际,横琴哈罗礼德学校举办了"新生家庭欢迎会暨教师节庆祝活动"。这场由哈罗之友委员会(FoHC)与班委共同策划的活动,不仅是一场简单的聚会,既是欢迎新家庭加入哈罗社区,更是中西教育文化中"尊师重道"精神的生动诠释。
中国自古崇尚“国之将兴,必贵师而重傅”,强调教师在孩子成长与社会进步中的重要作用。而英国哈罗公学四百年来也始终敬重师者,将其誉为“塑造未来领袖的匠人”。
早在1572年,英国哈罗的一位富裕乡绅约翰·里昂便希望为当地孩子提供接受优质教育的机会。他获得伊丽莎白一世女王颁发的王室特许,创办了哈罗公学。从创校至今,哈罗始终坚守教育初心,尊重知识、敬重师道,这份传统延续至今。
在教师节当天,哈罗学子亲手制作了香牌,向老师们表达感谢与敬意——这是东方文化中尊师重教传统的延续,也展现了哈罗教育理念中对教师价值的真诚认可与尊重。
在野餐长桌上,家长们带来的炖羊肉、烧猪等家常菜与专业餐饮搭配,传递着"分享与关怀"的社区温度。
从活动策划到现场布置,从美食分享到流程协调,家长志愿者们以行动诠释"家校合作"的真正含义。
近百位教师在课后时间,与家庭沟通交流,在轻松氛围中构建超越课堂的信任纽带。
寄宿生与走读生一同欢笑游戏,新老家庭自然融合,正是哈罗"全人社区"理念的鲜活缩影。

Education is the light that illuminates students’ future, and teachers are the keepers of that light. On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Harrow Hengqin hosted a “New Families Welcome & Teachers’ Day Celebration” event. Organised jointly by the Friends of Harrow Committee (FoHC) and the class representatives, this event was more than a simple gathering — it was a warm welcome to new families joining the Harrow community, and a vivid expression of the shared value of respecting and honouring teachers in both Eastern and Western educational cultures.
Since ancient times, China has revered the principle that “When a nation is to rise, it must value teachers and cherish education,” emphasising the vital role of teachers in children’s development and societal progress. Similarly, for over four centuries, Harrow School in the UK has upheld a deep respect for teachers, regarding them as “craftsmen shaping future leaders.”
As early as 1572, John Lyon, a wealthy local gentleman, wished to provide quality education for children in his area. With a royal charter granted by Queen Elizabeth I, he founded Harrow School. Since its inception, Harrow has remained true to its educational mission, honouring knowledge and respecting the teaching profession—a tradition that continues to this day.
On Teachers’ Day, Harrow students crafted fragrant ornaments by hand to express their gratitude and respect for their teachers—continuing the Eastern tradition of respecting and valuing educators, while also reflecting the sincere recognition and appreciation of teachers’ worth embedded in the Harrow educational philosophy.
At a picnic table, parents shared home-cooked dishes such as slow-cooked lamb and roast pork alongside professional catering, conveying the spirit of “sharing and caring” within the community.
From planning the event to decorating the venue, and from sharing food to coordinating the schedule, parent volunteers exemplified the true meaning of home-school collaboration through their active involvement.
Heartfelt Teacher Participation
Nearly one hundred teachers and staff members engaged with families after classes, building bonds of trust beyond the classroom in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Children' s Joyful Interaction
Boarding and day students played and laughed together, seamlessly blending new and existing families—a vibrant reflection of Harrow’s “holistic community” philosophy.
