【融通高中IHS】心向阳光，逐梦而行：开学活动集锦Orientation Week activities

一朵朵小红花首先送给在24-25学年取得了不起成果的师生团队：前10大学批量“预”转“正”；各个学科国际考/评估成绩全面超过全球平均水平，优势学科继续领先，更多学科跻身前列；EPQ项目A*等级突破；1/4高一ALEVEL学生雅思7(6)及以上，名片类竞赛高度保持，顶尖竞赛突破，参赛面拓宽……

First of all, we would like to extend our congratulations to the outstanding teacher-student teams who achieved remarkable results in the 2024-2025 academic year: A large number of students with conditional offers from top 10 universities successfully converted them to unconditional ones; academic performance in international exams/assessments across all subjects surpassed the global average, with advantageous subjects maintaining their leading positions and more subjects ranking among the top; the number of A* grades in the EPQ project hit an unprecedented level; a quarter of Grade 10 A-LEVEL students achieved an IELTS score of 7.0 (with no less than 6.0 in each div); the school maintained a high level of performance in certificate-based competitions, made breakthroughs in top-tier competitions, and expanded the scope of student participation in competitions.

At the beginning of the school term, we prepared meaningful gifts for both teachers and students, hoping that we could continue to grow and strive for excellence. At the same time, we upgraded many facilities on campus, especially the dormitories, which significantly improved the comfort level.

9月1日上午，学部组织了全体师生迎新破冰活动，报人名，“贴饼”，“水果蹲”等一项项游戏活动让同学们在自然地互相了解的同时得到身体锻炼。

On the morning of September 1, the school organised an ice-breaking activity for all teachers and students. Games such as "name guessing", "sticking to the circle" and "fruit squat" helped students get to know each other naturally while exercising their bodies. 

住宿环境的提升当然少不了同学们的日常保持，很多同学对老师展示的三步一手叠衣服大呼惊叹，从以往的“被动观”到“主动试”，还有女生主动展示自己的衣物收纳绝活。

The improvement of the dormitory environment certainly requires students' daily maintenance. Many students were amazed by the convenient clothes-folding method demonstrated by teachers. They shifted from being "passive observers" to "active practitioners", and some female students even took the initiative to show their skills in clothing organisation. 

如果说保护自己是本能的话，危急时刻救护他人则需要更多专业知识。同学们在教官的指导下以看似嬉戏实则充满智慧的方式学习防身脱险之术，宁乡市红十字会的专业老师们给同学们传授心肺复苏、伤口包扎等应急救护技能，让同学们对健康生活，珍爱生命有更深的感悟。

While protecting themselves is an instinct, rescuing others in emergencies requires more professional knowledge. Under the guidance of instructors, students learned self-defense and escape skills through activities that seemed like fun but were actually full of wisdom. Professional teachers from the Ningxiang Red Cross Society taught students first-aid skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and wound dressing, helping them gain a deeper understanding of living a healthy life. 

在中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利80周年的特殊时刻，师生全员观看阅兵式并写下了观礼感悟，同学们深切感受到祖国的强大与和平的不易，在积极迈入世界舞台的同时不忘中国根基和历史责任。

On the special occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, all teachers and students watched the military parade and wrote down their reflections. The students deeply felt the strength of the motherland and the preciousness of peace, and they vowed not to forget their Chinese roots and historical responsibilities while actively stepping onto the world stage. 

开学典礼及学部第一次全体学生大会，我们举行了“杰出学生领袖，全科卓越，志愿服务，优秀班级”等集体与个人颁奖，传递“多元优秀”价值观，激励不同赛道的成长。暑假21天运动打卡延续了现金奖励的形式，足以证明坚持运动的好习惯在融通高中一如既往的“含金量”；新生为期四周的线上英语学习跟进彰显宁碧老师团队的担当与责任感，学习跟进始于初见，爱与教育从未停歇。

At the opening ceremony and the first general assembly for all students, the school held an award ceremony to honor outstanding individuals and groups, including "Outstanding Student Leaders", "All-Subject Excellence Awardees", "Volunteer Service Outstanding Contributors" and "Excellent Classes". This event conveyed the values of "diverse excellence" and encouraged students to grow in diversified aspects. The school continued the tradition of offering cash rewards for the "21-day Exercise" activity, which fully demonstrated that the good habit of persistent exercise is highly valued at International High School. The four-week online English learning follow-up for new students showed the sense of responsibility and commitment of the school's teaching team - their care for students' learning starts from the first day of acquaintance, and love and education never stop.

教学处任主任就各年级学生的主要学习目标，学习规划的重要性，如何用学习管理手册帮助自己建立自我管理的好习惯，以及学习上的注意事项，如AI使用的边界等做了细致分享；德育处刘主任就德育常规管理要求，宿舍管理要求，学生会的成立和社团活动规划进行梳理点拨；叶校长就融通高中师生团队的特质，过去一年的卓越成果，以及新的一年师生共同目标进行了诠释，更强调：希望融通高中学生能够通过“教室公约”“言行公约”“宿舍公约”等实现良好的自我约束和管理，成于习惯，止于至善。

Director Ren gave a detailed sharing on the main lerning goals for students of different grades, the importance of study planning, how to use the study management handbook to develop good self-management habits, and precautions for learning (such as the boundaries of AI use). Director Liu sorted out and provided guidance on the requirements of routine moral education management, dormitory management, the establishment of the student union and the planning of club activities. Also, Principal Ye explained the characteristics of the teacher-student team of International High School, the outstanding achievements of the past year, and the common goals of teachers and students for the new year. She also emphasised: "It is hoped that students of International High School can achieve good self-discipline and self-management through the 'Classroom Convention', 'Behavior Convention' and 'Dormitory Convention', so as to develop good habits and pursue perfection." 

9月3日，我们很荣幸邀请到中南大学湘雅三医院生物医学工程博士李娜教授为8-12年级同学带来生命科学前沿知识讲座，李教授深入浅出地分享了脑机接口与人工智能，类器官与干细胞，纳米生物材料，基因编辑等前沿科技，将科幻世界的场景照进现实，为师生带来了一场学术交流盛宴，点燃了同学们探索科技新世界的火种。

On September 3, the school was honored to invite Professor Li Na, a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, to give a lecture on cutting-edge life science knowledge to students in grades 8-12. Professor Li explained cutting-edge technologies such as brain-computer interfaces and artificial intelligence. She turned scenes from science fiction into reality, bringing an academic feast to teachers and students and igniting their passion for exploring the new world of science and technology. 

9月4日晚，新生座谈会如期开展。作为高三的学姐，杨同学贴心地将升学规划疑惑怎么解，面对新挑战如何通过日程表自我管理，让人充满期待的学生活动如“听你来说”，喊楼，师生团建，多彩大课间等分享给大家；11年级陈同学开场即将学霸buff退去，分享了他与常人无二的小“问题”。他关于学习是什么的感悟：“学习是研究”，“学习是建立事物之间的联系”，要寻找自己的热爱，“不要太多压力”，哲人般的思考方式和从内而外的松弛感，让开放包容这一关键词更加具象化。

On the evening of September 4, the new student forum was held. As a grade 12 student, Student Yang thoughtfully shared how to solve problems about further study planning, how to manage herself with a schedule when facing new challenges, and exciting student activities such as the "All ears" session, "building cheering", teacher-student league construction and colorful break-time activities. Student Chen from grade 11 put aside the "top student" label at the beginning of his sharing and talked about the small "problems" he had, just like ordinary students. He shared his insights on learning: "Learning is research", "Learning is about building connections between things". He encouraged everyone to find their own passions and "not to put too much pressure on themselves". His philosophical way of thinking and inner calmness made the keyword "openness and inclusiveness" more concrete.

BTEC艺术方向的黄同学以其从不愿入学到享受艺术，享受友谊的现实转变为背景，分享了艺术课程人和事的疗愈能力，同时也呼吁同学们一定不要拖拉。在轻松民主的氛围中，同学们也互通了关于学习，俱乐部，住宿，就餐等各方面信息。最后，叶校长再次解读了学部学年关键词：平安，健康，温暖，卓越，期待师生一起在开放包容的环境中：Dream together, Chase together。

Student Huang, who majors in BTEC Art, shared her journey of changing from being reluctant to enroll to enjoying art and friendship. She talked about the healing power of people and things in art courses and also urged her peers not to procrastinate. In a relaxed and democratic atmosphere, students also exchanged information on various aspects such as study, clubs, accommodation and dining. Finally, Principal Ye reinterpreted the key words of the school year: "Safety, Health, Warmth and Excellence", and expressed her expectation that teachers and students would "Dream together, Chase together" in an open and inclusive environment.
