数学名师工作坊｜聚焦DSE数学卷二（Paper 2）科学备考，人人皆可合格！

Two core members of the workshop team, Vice Principal of Academic Ms. Lam and Master Teacher Workshop Facilitator Mr. Wong, will be conducting a series of seminars on the DSE Mathematics Exam for current high school students in the 2025-2026 school year.

Mr. Lam was born and raised in Hong Kong. He has many years of experience as a Mathematics subject leader, and has also worked as a Marker for DSE and the Hong Kong Education Bureau, specializing in teaching DSE Mathematics as well as the M1 and M2. Mr. Wang, on the other hand, has more than 30 years of teaching experience and is one of the earliest IBDP-certified math teachers in the Mainland. She has accumulated a wealth of experience in preparing for the Mainland's Advanced Placement Examination and various international curriculum exams.

This workshop focuses on the following points to give clarity to the students:

（一）DSE数学评分机制的量化分析

(i) Quantitative analysis of the DSE math scoring mechanism

The workshop deconstructed the marking characteristics of DSE Mathematics by analyzing the big data of the exams in recent years, and led the students to understand the marking rules in depth.

In the preparation for DSE Mathematics, students are advised to focus on consolidating the fundamentals, as well as integrating knowledge and expanding problem-solving ideas. In the sprint stage, we will combine the problem solving and time-limited simulation to optimize the pace of answering questions and the rigor of thinking, so as to improve the knowledge mastery and test-taking ability, in order to achieve a good performance in the exam.

(ii) Why Paper 2 is the key to giving marks in DSE ?

The workshop revealed the importance of DSE Maths Paper 2 to the students. Although the official HKEAA document states that Paper 1 is 60% of the paper and Paper 2 is 40% of the paper, Paper 2 covers 30 multiple choice questions from Part A and 15 multiple choice questions from Part B, which provides a wide range of knowledge coverage, flexibility in the question types, and smaller margins of error in marking.

(iii) Tips for answering multiple choice questions in DSE Mathematics Paper 2

针对DSE数学备考，本次工作坊聚焦卷二选择题，为同学们系统提炼了核心答题技巧，具体包括代值验证法、量度法、排除法、绘图辅助法，以及善用计算器和题目资料等实用策略。

在练习环节，同学们跟随老师深入解析真题，通过实战应用进一步验证了这些技巧在提升答题效率与准确率上的显著作用。

For the preparation of DSE Mathematics, this workshop focused on the multiple-choice questions in Paper 2, and systematically refined the core answering techniques for students, including the methods of surrogate value verification, measurement, elimination, graphing assistance, as well as making good use of the calculator and topic materials.

In the practice session, students followed the teacher to analyze the questions in depth, and further verified the significant effect of these techniques in enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of the answers through practical application.

In order to guarantee the learning effect, the Maths Workshop specially organized a Cantonese session and a Putonghua session, and almost all S4 and S5 students participated in at least one session. Students responded enthusiastically, not only knowing the characteristics of the DSE exam from a new perspective and learning to analyze the key to the exam from an objective point of view, but also deeply understanding the importance of time allocation for high scores and gaining more confidence in achieving high scores in the DSE exam.

In the future, the workshop will continue to introduce new topics around how to get a high DSE score in the new school year 2025-2026.
