Sister School Exchange with
DMHC Siu Ming Catholic Secondary School

The delegation of staff and students from our sister school - DMHC Siu Ming Catholic Secondary School (Band 1) in Hong Kong, visited ASJ (Dongguan) for a two-day exchange on June 23rd and 24th. Accompanied by our teachers and students, the guests toured the campus facilities and gained insights into ASJ (Dongguan)’s curriculum, educational philosophy, signature activities, and latest development through an introduction by Executive Principal Mr. Samuel KAM.
6月23-24日,香港天主教母佑会萧明中学(Band 1)的师生代表团到访东莞暨大港澳子弟学校,展开了为期两天的校际交流活动。萧明中学的同学们在我校师生的陪同下,参观了校园的各项设施,并在我校执行校长金礼贤先生的介绍下,深入了解了我校的课程体系、教育理念、特色活动及发展现状。






A key part of the exchange was the joint lessons where students from both schools shared classroom experiences. This not only allowed Siu Ming School students to experience ASJ’s teaching style, but also gave our students particularly valuable opportunities for cross-school collaboration and learning.
本次交流的核心环节是两校学生“同上一节课”,这不仅让萧明中学的同学体验了东莞ASJ的课堂,也为我们的学生提供了宝贵的跨校协作和学习机会。
PE Lesson
体育课

An energetic PE session broke the ice. Students bonded through warm-up games involving passing, jumping, and running. Initial shyness faded as they enthusiastically played a lively frisbee game, with friendly competition and teamwork helping them quickly connect. The session’s lively spirit created lasting memories.
初次见面,学校为同学们组织了一场充满活力的体育课。一场融合了传、跳、跑的热身游戏瞬间点燃了同学们的热情,大家全情投入。初次见面的拘谨,在躲避盘穿梭飞舞间悄然消散。比赛中的默契配合与友好对抗交织,让不同学校的同学们迅速打成一片。体育的魅力,成功打破了陌生感,为两校学子留下了充满活力与欢笑的难忘体验。




Visual Arts Lesson
艺术课

In Visual Arts class, students crafted unique lacquered fans. They dripped coloured lacquer onto water, gently stirred to create patterns, then dipped plain fans to transfer the designs. The unpredictable results meant everyone took home a truly one-of-a-kind piece of art.
在视觉艺术课上,同学们体验了神奇的漆扇制作:在清澈的水面滴入彩漆,用木棒轻巧搅拌勾勒出独一无二的花纹,再将素白扇面浸入水中,瞬间吸附起流动的斑斓图案。正是这份制作的随机性,让每位同学都收获了一把独属于自己的、五彩缤纷的艺术之扇。






ICT Lesson
资讯及通信科技课

Students became "design wizards" in the ICT classroom, using Tinkercad software to transform ideas about music and sport into tangible badge models. Their efficient teamwork resulted in uniquely creative final products.
在ICT课堂上,同学们化身“设计魔法师”,运用Tinkercad软件,将关于音乐、运动的奇思妙想,转化为可触可感的徽章模型。小组协作高效而娴熟,每一件最终呈现的作品,都闪耀着独特而耀眼的创意光芒。






Geography Lesson
地理课

In the Geography class, students role-played and discussed whether different industries (including automobile manufacturing industry, drone manufacturing industry, information technology industry, clothing manufacturing industry, and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry) should set up factories in Hong Kong or the Pearl River Delta. Students actively discussed the advantages of Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta to attract those playing the role of factory owners to choose their region. Through this class, students learned about the pull and push factors that affect industrial location.
在地理课上,同学们进行了角色扮演,讨论不同的工业(包括汽车制造业、无人机制造业、信息科技、制衣业、药品制造)该在香港还是珠江三角洲设立工厂。学生们积极发言,讲述香港和珠江三角洲的优势,以吸引扮演厂方的学生选择他们的地区。透过这节课,学生学习到影响工业区位的拉因素和推因素。



CES Lesson
公民、经济与社会课

Students discussed challenges and opportunities for young job seekers in Hong Kong, focusing on AI's impact. In a lively group task, a mixed team (Siu Ming & ASJ girls) and an ASJ boys' team identified 10 pros and cons of AI – the girls' group excelled.
在公社课探讨年青人在香港找工作面对的挑战与机遇时,学生们特别讨论了人工智能(AI)的影响。课堂设计了小组活动:由萧明中学学生与本校学生组成的女生组,以及本校男生组,分辨10个AI带给人的好处和坏处。活动气氛热烈,女生组在此环节中表现优异。
When discussing AI's ethical issues, a Form 1 student from Siu Ming School impressed everyone with her clear, confident views. Her habit of proactively following current affairs showcased remarkable independent learning and broad perspective. The session was a productive exchange of diverse viewpoints.
当话题深入至AI可能引发的伦理议题(Ethical issue)时,萧明中学一位中一女生自信且条理清晰的见解,给在场的同学们留下了深刻印象。她分享了自己在课余时间主动关注和了解时事热点的习惯,展现出的开阔视野和自主学习能力,令人深受启发。这次交流活动,双方同学都展现了独特视角与学习热情,是一次富有成效的相互学习。



Life Education Lesson
生命教育课

The "Building Dreams Together" Positive Psychology workshop used art to guide self and group exploration. Through four stages – self-discovery, understanding others, finding one’s role in a team, and jointly envisioning the future – students connected deeply. Expressing and listening fostered meaningful exchanges between the schools.
《凝聚能量 共筑梦想》积极心理学课程,以绘画为桥梁,引导同学们展开了一场深度的自我与团体探索。从认识自我特质、了解他人,到在团体中找到位置,最终共同描绘美好未来,四个环节层层递进。在表达与倾听中,个人与团体紧密联结,有效促进了两校学生之间的深度沟通与理解,意义非凡。

Exploring the Corrosive Nature of Acids
探索“酸的腐蚀性”

The joint open lesson with our sister school explored the Corrosive Nature of Acids, featuring collaborative group experiments involving 10 visiting students. Mixed groups conducted hands-on activities: 1) Acids & Metals Group: Observed dilute HCl corroding Zn/Mg/Fe, collected/tested hydrogen (“POP” test), and co-wrote equations (e.g., zinc + hydrochloric acid → zinc chloride + hydrogen). 2) Acids & Carbonates Group: Reacted dilute acids with marble/limestone (calcium carbonate), observed CO₂ production, and collaborated on the general equation (carbonate + acid → salt + water + carbon dioxide). This group work successfully fostered cross-school collaboration and practical science skills.
本次与姐妹学校的联合公开课聚焦“酸的腐蚀性”。课程亮点在于与10位姐妹学校学生混合分组进行实验探究。两地学生共同操作:1) 酸与金属组:观察稀盐酸腐蚀锌/镁/铁/铜并收集验证是否有氢气产生(“POP”声),协作书写反应式(如锌+盐酸→氯化锌+氢气);2) 酸与碳酸盐组:用稀酸滴加大理石/石灰石(碳酸钙),观察二氧化碳生成,合作完成反应通式(碳酸盐+酸→盐+水+二氧化碳)。分组实验有效促进了跨校协作与科学实践能力。

Making and Launching Water Rockets
制作和发射“水火箭”

The students from sister school and our G7E class were arranged to practise the "water rocket" launching activity. The activity applied the science principles of "Air pressure" and "Action and reaction". Through the interesting rocket launching activity, students were encouraged to learn from games and apply scientific knowledge. The 17 students in G7E plus 10 visiting students were deployed into six groups. They decorated the rockets in the classroom, and then rebuilt it on the court and launched the water rocket in groups. From filling in water, pumping air, to launching the rocket, all of them showed great interest and participated actively. When encountering failures, students were able to find out the reasons in time, correct them and try again. It was believed that the students experienced a pleasant learning process and mastered the relevant scientific principles.
姐妹校的同学们还和G7E班同学参与了由老师安排了 “水火箭”的体验活动。活动应用了“气压”和“作用力与反作用力”的原理,透过有趣的发射火箭活动,令学生从游戏中学习,活用科学知识。本班学生17人加上来访学生10人分成六组。首先在课室内把应用器材整理妥当,然后由老师带领到球场,分组进行水火箭发射。由入水、泵气,到按键发射,学生们都踊跃投入。遇到一些发射失败的情况,学生也能及时查找原因,改正再尝试。在炎热的天气下,虽然人人都汗流挟背,但学生们都体验到愉快的学习过程,掌握到相关的科学原理。





The successful two-day exchange built strong bridges between the schools. For ASJ students, collaborating with Siu Ming School peers on lessons, projects, and discussions was invaluable, enhancing their communication skills and understanding of diverse perspectives. We look forward to deepening such exchanges in future, creating more rewarding shared learning experiences.
为期两天的交流活动圆满结束,意义深远。此次活动成功搭建起两校学子沟通的桥梁,对于东莞ASJ的学生而言,与萧明中学伙伴一起上课、完成项目、探讨问题,是一次难得的锻炼机会,有效提升了沟通协作能力和多元视角理解。我们期待未来能继续深化这样的交流,为两地学子创造更多共同进步的美好体验。
