At LEH Foshan, we’re dedicated to providing a genuine British education, and the House system sits at the very core of every student’s school experience. Though Harry Potter fans might already be familiar with the “Houses” concept, our school’s House system moves beyond fictional charm; it’s a key part of our ethos, touching students’ lives in truly meaningful ways.
The House System is a cherished tradition in British schools, designed to foster community, character, and collaboration. At LEH Foshan, the entire student body is divided into four Houses, Dragon, Gryphon, Phoenix, and Unicorn. Each House includes an even mix of students from different year groups and genders, creating a balanced and inclusive environment. Being part of a House gives students a strong sense of belonging and identity, while promoting teamwork, healthy competition, and lasting friendships.
From the moment a student joins LEH Foshan, they are welcomed into a House. This immediate sense of belonging is vital. It creates a supportive environment where students can thrive socially and emotionally. Through House activities, students learn to work as a team, practice leadership, and face real-life challenges together. Whether they win or lose, they do so as a collective, learning compassion, resilience, and how to celebrate shared success.
Advantages about House System
Cross-Year Mentorship &
Cohesive Community
One of the strengths of our House System is its vertical integration. Students from different year groups come together, allowing older students to mentor and support younger ones. This dynamic fosters leadership and empathy, while younger students gain confidence and inspiration from their older peers. The result is a cohesive school community where everyone feels valued and empowered.
Building Skills for
Lifelong Achievements
Participation in the House System is more than just fun. It’s a foundation for lifelong success. Through House activities, students develop the 8Cs, which are essential attributes for life beyond school. These values empower students to be confident, compassionate leaders, effective communicators, and resilient problem-solvers, skills that will serve them in any future path they choose.
House Events and Activities
Our House System is famous for its friendly competition. Throughout the academic year, students can look forward to many major House events, including:
Each event culminates in a trophy presentation, celebrating achievement and effort. In addition to these, there are numerous smaller competitions and challenges that keep the House spirit alive all year round.
House Roles & House Points
Both students and teachers are integral parts of the House system. Each House is guided by two House Masters, one from Prep and one from Secondary. Acting as a mentor, role model, and primary pastoral leader, they foster a strong sense of belonging and community. Their crucial role involves nurturing each student's personal development, well-being, and character, while championing House spirit and guiding students to achieve their best, both academically and personally.
Leadership is a key component of the House System. Each House is led by two House Captains who guide their peers, organize events, and represent their House throughout the year. However, leadership opportunities extend far beyond these roles. With frequent and varied competitions, many students have the chance to step up, lead teams, and contribute in meaningful ways—developing their leadership skills in real-world contexts.

Our House Point system is crafted to acknowledge and inspire students’ accomplishments. Earning points for positive conduct and high-quality work extends far beyond individual recognition, it fosters a culture of engagement and mutual support. This motivates students to explore their interests and develop their skills, nurturing both personal growth and a strong sense of community spirit. Each month, the House with the highest point total is presented with the House Trophy, a fitting tribute to their collective achievements and shared excellence.
More than a British school tradition, LEH Foshan’s House System is a vibrant community where students grow, connect, and thrive, nurturing the skills, spirit, and belonging that will guide them for years to come.
