From the tiniest builders to the most voracious readers, our whole campus has been humming with curiosity and creativity. Whether Nursery architects were constructing life-sized houses, Year 2 scientists were glitter-bombing germs to see how they spread, AEP students were debating how to heal the planet, or book-lovers were mapping out a year of literary adventures, every learner has been busy turning questions into projects, and projects into new confidence. Here is a glimpse of the discoveries, designs and “aha!” moments that have filled BIS these days.
Nursery Tiger Cubs Explore the World of Houses
Written by Ms. Kate, September 2025
This week in our Nursery Tiger Cubs class, the children embarked on an exciting journey into the world of homes. From exploring the rooms inside a house to creating life-sized structures of their own, the classroom was alive with curiosity, creativity, and collaboration.
The week began with discussions about the different rooms found in a home. The children eagerly identified where objects belonged—a fridge in the kitchen, a bed in the bedroom, a table in the dining room, and a TV in the living room. As they sorted objects into the correct spaces, they shared their ideas with their teachers, building vocabulary and learning to express their thoughts with confidence.Their learning continued through imaginative play, using small figurines to ‘walk’ from room to room. Guided by their teachers, the children practiced following instructions, describing what they could see, and reinforcing their understanding of each room’s purpose. The excitement grew when the children moved from miniature to life-sized houses. Divided into teams, they worked together to construct the ‘Nursery Tiger Cubs’ house using large blocks, outlining the different rooms on the floor and filling each space with furniture cutouts. This hands-on project encouraged teamwork, spatial awareness, and planning, while giving the children a tangible sense of how rooms come together to form a home. Adding another layer of creativity, the children designed their own furniture using playdough, paper, and straws, imagining tables, chairs, sofas, and beds. This activity not only nurtured fine motor skills and problem-solving but also allowed the children to experiment, plan, and bring their ideas to life.
By the end of the week, the children had not only built houses but had also built knowledge, confidence, and a deeper understanding of how spaces are organized and used. Through play, exploration, and imagination, the Nursery Tiger Cubs discovered that learning about homes can be just as much about creating and imagining as it is about identifying and naming.

Y2 Lions Newsletter – First Five Weeks of Learning & Fun!
Written by Ms. Kymberle, September 2025.
Dear Parents,
What a wonderful start to the year it has been for our Y2 Lions! In English, we explored feelings, food, and friendship through songs, stories, and games. The children practiced asking and answering questions, spelling simple words, and sharing emotions with growing confidence. Their laughter and teamwork filled the classroom each week.
Maths was alive with hands-on discovery. From estimating beans in jars to hopping along a giant classroom number line, the children enjoyed comparing numbers, playing shop with coins, and solving number bonds through games. Their excitement for patterns and problem-solving shines through every lesson.
In Science, our focus was on Growing and Keeping Healthy. Learners sorted foods, tested how germs spread with glitter, and counted their steps to see how movement changes our bodies. The clay tooth models were a huge hit—students proudly shaped incisors, canines, and molars while learning about their functions.
Global Perspectives connected everything together as we explored healthy living. Children built food plates, kept simple food diaries, and created their own “Healthy Meal” drawings to share at home.
Our Lions have worked with energy, curiosity, and creativity—what a roaring start to the year!
Warmly,
The Y2 Lions Team

AEP Journey: Language Growth with an Environmental Heart
Written by Mr. Rex, September 2025.
Welcome to the Accelerated English Program (AEP), a dynamic bridge designed to prepare students for success in mainstream academic courses. Our intensive curriculum focuses on rapidly developing the core English skills—critical reading, academic writing, listening, and speaking—essential for comprehending complex subjects and expressing ideas effectively in a classroom setting.
The AEP is distinguished by its highly motivated and engaged student community. Learners here are actively committed to their goal of achieving English proficiency. They dive into challenging topics with impressive determination, collaborating and supporting each other’s growth. A key characteristic of our students is their resilience; they are never discouraged by unfamiliar language or concepts. Instead, they embrace the challenge, working diligently to unpack meaning and master the material. This proactive and persistent attitude, even when facing initial uncertainty, is the driving force that accelerates their progress and ensures they are well-equipped to thrive in their future studies.
Recently, we are investigating why and how do we protect our beloved Earth and come up with some solutions to deal with the pollution in our environment. Glad to see students are really engaged in such a big topic!

Refreshed Media Centre
Written by Mr. Dean, September 2025
The new school year has been an exciting time for our library. Over the past few weeks, the library has transformed into a welcoming space for learning and reading. We have refreshed displays, set up new zones, and introduced engaging resources that encourage students to explore and read.
Reading Journals:
One of the highlights has been the Library Journal each student received. This journal is designed to encourage independent reading, track progress, and complete fun activities linked to books. Students will use it to set personal goals, reflect on their reading, and take part in challenges. Orientation sessions have also been a success. Students across year levels learned how to navigate the library, borrow responsibly, books.
New Books:
We are also expanding our book collection. A large order of new titles is on its way, covering both fiction and non-fiction to spark curiosity and support classroom learning. In addition, the library has started planning a calendar of events for the year, including a book fair, themed reading weeks, and competitions designed to inspire and encourage a love for reading.
Thank you to teachers, parents, and students for your support so far. We look forward to sharing even more exciting updates in the coming months!
